Around the World Vol. 1 takes readers to the heart of Paramaribo, showcasing a visual narrative that reflects Lieveld’s connection with his hometown and the brands he connects it with. This edition features a collaboration with BRUUT, a brand whose journey from a humble sneaker store to expanding with its own garments mirrors the transformative ethos of XAVEWORLD. You might’ve seen some of their creations sported by Mochakk, Alireza Ghadiri, Kybba, Sunnery James, and Ryan Marciano, cementing their influence in the sports and music industry.
As I’m writing this very piece I’m munching on a Javanese-Surinamese snack called “bron bron” (crispy rice snacks), making me think of a Persian delicacy called Tahdig (crispy Persian rice). A connection comes in many ways, visually, through senses, taste, and most importantly, feeling.
